| We had 2 basement floods this year (wet winter, wet summer. The water was coming through the back door. I did some exploratory digging and found that the downspout for 1/4 of our roof was draining into a low spot very close to the back door. Combining with the concrete patio drainage which went to the same area this had completely soaked the ground in that area and left no route for heavy rainfall to drain into. Our landscaper diagnosed the problem and the solution was to dig a ditch and install a drainline that would drain this water to a dry well on the other side of the yard. If need be the dry well then connects to an existing drain line out to the field behind our house. We're hoping its fixed, the landscaper is pretty confident but we're waiting for a good rainstorm before we replace the basement rug. | |||
